Kumari Nahappan started her career in interior design, before she enrolled in LASALLE’s McNally School of Fine Arts as a mature student. Since 2000, she has been known for her public art works based on nature, mostly in the shape of fruits, seeds and spices.

PEDRO worked with final year students from the Diploma in Creative Direction for Fashion programme to create exciting concepts that tell the story of the EOS Sneaker through the eyes of Gen Z. The students, Fu Shouheng, Wang Shiwen, Wang Lei and Zuaipy Fariqa Santiago, came up with a captivating concept, winning them a prize of $1,000.

LASALLE’s Programme for LASALLE Creative Entrepreneurs (PLACE) is a creative entrepreneurship programme by the Faculty of Design. It mentors fresh graduates or students to develop their ideas into ventures that can inspire, help and serve their communities.

The Fashion Forward Bursary was kickstarted by Priscilla Shunmugam, founder of Ong Shunmugam, in aid of talented and financially challenged students who otherwise may not be able to pursue their passion in fashion. It is complemented by the LASALLE x Ong Shunmugam Mentorship Programme, which comprises an industry-led project and a dedicated mentorship for final year students.

Nur Halimah Jasni long harboured the desire to study art at university, and after postponing her plan for several years, she became a student again last August to pursue a BA(Hons) Fine Arts at LASALLE. The art teacher at a secondary school took professional development leave for the duration of her three-year studies.

The eighth edition of popular public art festival ARTWALK returns in 2022 with the theme of Looking Back, Going Forward. For the first time, ARTWALK will be expanding to Katong-Joo Chiat, while continuing to bring to life the rich culture and stories of Little India through multidisciplinary art programmes.
