School of Fashion graduand Sulis Awalluden shares with Berita Harian that her graduation collection, “Glistening Within”, aims to change the common misconception that wearing hijab or dressing modestly is outdated and traditional. Her collection subtly incorporates Islamic elements such as the crescent and stars in their design, while taking inspiration from minimalist styles of the 90s. Sulis is the first LASALLE fashion graduand to focus on modest clothing.
“I want to show that we can still be fashionable. Even though we wear the hijab and dress modestly, this is not a barrier,” Sulis says.
