The support provided by the government, in terms of issuing grants to artists and providing infrastructure for more art spaces, has borne fruit. Singapore has come a long way. Once referred to as a 'cultural desert', the little red dot is now a major arts hub with an annual staple of high-profile arts and cultural events that are well-attended by locals and foreigner alike.

Lianhe Wanbao spoke to artists and industry insiders to discover more about Singapore's arts and cultural ecosystem. Speaking in his capacity as President of LASALLE College of the Arts, Professor Steve Dixon shared that there is no better time than the present to embark on an artistic career as the arts landscape in Singapore is better than ever. He revealed that the College's enrolment numbers increase each year, and this was just one of the many proof points that an arts-based education and career is more widely accepted. Professor Steve Dixon further shared, "Compared to the past, arts events are now more popular and well-attended among the public."

LASALLE is thus well-placed to feed this growing demand as the College has earned a reputation that is comparable to some of the best arts schools in the West.
