With extensive public exposure through exhibitions and media publicity, young artists have been increasingly well received among the public and art collectors in recent years. Lianhe Zaobao speaks to this year’s top Fine Arts graduates from LASALLE and NAFA to find out more about their approach to art, how their education has shaped them, and their creative ambitions.
Nandita Mukand, top BA(Hons) Fine Arts graduate, and Leow Wei Li, top Diploma in Fine Arts graduate, both said that the most prominent element of LASALLE’s education philosophy was its high expectations of students to be able to think independently.
Leow Wei Li shared that she enjoyed the art education at LASALLE as she could take charge of her learning, and set directions for herself. “The teachers are very open-minded to experimentation, no suggestion would be taken as inappropriate for no obvious reason.”
