LASALLE’s Animation students joined professionals and peers in the annual 24-Hour Comics Day to complete 24 pages of comics on Saturday, 5 October 2013. 24-hour Comics Day is a worldwide event that celebrates the art of making comics in a real life scenario.

Over 150 participants converged at LASALLE College of the Arts. It was the largest turnout since the challenge began three years ago in Singapore.

Chris Shaw, Programme Leader of the Animation programme worked with the organiser, Mr JF Koh to pull out all stops in making this a special collaboration. Chris encouraged students across all levels, from Diploma to BA(Hons), to take up the challenge.

"The focus of the challenge is to give the students a well-rounded boot camp in story development that enables them to experience real industry expectations of working under pressure and within the boundary of a brief. This is good training and it gives the students a leverage,” he explained.

Some were apprehensive at first, as they saw it as a huge undertaking, but soldiered on and reaped the benefits. Said student Stephanie Priscilla, “The challenge demanded a great deal of tenacity and cogency in order for us to clearly articulate our ideas in our comics. It was exciting and I am glad to be given the opportunity that puts me to the test.”

Winners were chosen based on the most number of LIKES (votes cast by participants). They were:
1. LASALLE student, Teo Kiki, Daiyu and I, 24 pages (53 likes)
