The study of Fine Art is a process of continual debate and questioning; of exploring and interrogating set perspectives. Contemporary fine art practice is in constant negotiation with its surroundings, in a role that is subversive and ever-changing.

This programme situates itself at the crossroads of contemporary Western and Asian cultures, by paying heed to the demands of differential worldviews. It brings together a range of specialised areas, from traditional disciplines to newer art forms, which aim to provide wider options of expression in line with the developments of Fine Art around the world.

Students undertake one of six disciplines: Painting, which studies the methods by which reality is represented, through challenging the basic combinations of colour, form and composition; Printmaking, which explores the elements of trace beyond the boundaries of paper, combining techniques to contextualise ideas; Sculpture, which addresses the relationship between space and form by observing and manipulating materials, weight, texture and volume; Art Photography, which covers digital and analogue photo techniques, as well as imagery and composition to express the 21st century experience; Drawing, which introduces a plethora of draughtsman methods to serve different purposes, from schematics, sketch ideas, mark making, line work and an understanding shadow and light; and Graphic Novel, which explores the visual narrative and provides components on sequencing, panelling and the scripting of images and text.

Level One presents the different disciplines and theoretical approaches needed for an exploration of the fine arts, also introducing students to the social and historical frameworks that will inform their practice. Level Two focuses on developing an understanding of new techniques and teaches students to apply intellectual, visual and practical skills in response to their planned specialisation. Level Three consolidates the aims of the previous level and culminates in a body of practical work and thesis for the final examination and degree exhibition.
