Student volunteers from LASALLE spent a weekend painting a 3.5m x 2.8m mural for the residents of the Ang Mo Kio-Thye Hua Kwan Hospital.
The team of 10 Foundation Studies students, comprising both local and international students were chosen from 500 students who took part in LASALLE's campus-wide mural painting competition in January.

Said local student Wong Jun Hui Jeremy, 25, "I'm really glad to be given this opportunity to give back to society through this project and also to have a real-life opportunity to practice what I've learnt through my studies at LASALLE so far."
The students surveyed the space allocated by the hospital and came up with an original design to brighten the patients' surroundings. The result was a brightly coloured surrealistic artwork entitled "Fantasy of Nature" which is their interpretation of an underwater garden.
Indonesian student Michael Santosa, 19, said, "I certainly hope the mural will lighten up the lives of the patients because we have used bright colours and themes of nature in it. The mural is situated in an area within the hospital where the patients come to relax and we want to be able to help make the space more comfortable and soothing to their senses as they probably go through a lot of pain in the course of their illnesses."
