Musical Theatre Alumna Elena Wang has been selected to be part of London’s West End revival of the classic musical The King and I.

Renowned the world over as one of the most-loved musicals of all time, 23-year-old Wang will be part of the ensemble and play understudy for the lead role of Anna, the feisty English tutor in the Siamese court.

This Rodgers and Hammerstein musical will run for a total 20 shows at the iconic Royal Albert Hall, from 12 to 28 June and will feature stars like acclaimed British actress Maria Friedman and Daniel Dae Kim, better known as Jin, from the hit tv series Lost as King Mongkut.

This won’t be the first time Wang is set to perform in a successful musical, having made her theatrical debut as Ivy in home-grown musical Beauty World, followed by 2 to 12, Swordfish, Then the Concubine, Snow White, Sleepless Town and Wind in the Willows.

And the girl with a big voice, has big plans in London. Apart from spending time working on the musical, she’s hoping to find agents and catching the attention of musical theatre producer Cameron Mackintosh of famed musicals: The Phantom of the Opera and Les Misérables.
