INVITATION TO 24th LASALLE CONVOCATION 2010


Congratulations on the successful completion of your studies at the College. Your graduation marks a milestone as you complete a significant chapter of your life. Therefore, it is with great pleasure that we invite you to join us for the 24th LASALLE Convocation 2010.

Details of the event are as follow:

Date : Wednesday, 22nd September 2010
Time : 3.00pm to 5.00pm (followed by a reception)
Venue : Singapore Expo Convention & Exhibition Centre (Hall 2)

GRADUANDS’ REGISTRATION

Registration for LASALLE Convocation 2010 is officially closed.

ATTENDANCE ELIGIBILITY

All students who completed their studies and successfully passed Level 2, 3 and Masters programmes at the end of semester 2 of AY2009/2010 in June 2010, are eligible to register for convocation.

  • Graduands who have completed Bachelor/Master Programmes:

You will receive the BA/MA Degree validated by Open University Validation Services.

  • Graduands who have completed Level 2 of study:

    a) You will receive the LASALLE Diploma, if you are progressing with Level 3 of the BA (Hons) programme; OR

    b) You will receive the Diploma of Higher Education, validated by Open University Validation Services and the LASALLE Diploma, if you are not progressing to Level 3 and will exit at Level 2.

For those who did not respond with your intention regarding progression to Level 3, the College has assumed that you do not wish to progress. You will receive the Diploma of Higher Education, validated by Open University Validation Services and the LASALLE Diploma for completion of Level 2.

If you are unsure of your eligibility to attend the ceremony, please contact the Division of Academic Administration.

COLLECTION AND RETURN OF ACADEMIC GOWNS

All graduands attending the Convocation are required to wear Academic Gowns.

Please note that the College has appointed Creative District Pte Ltd to be the official photographer and facilitator for collection/return of academic gowns. Please complete the Gown Hire Form [download and print / pdf: 1.3MB] and return to Creative District by 13 August 2010. Please collect/return your gowns according to the schedule given below at:

Schedule for Gown Collection
Dates Time
Diploma – 15, 16 Sep 2010

Bachelor/Masters – 17, 18, 20 Sep 2010

Diploma – 23 Sep 2010 1.00pm – 8.30pm
Bachelor/Masters – 24 Sep 2010

Please adhere strictly to the collect and return schedule given above.

Payment


Graduands are required to make the following payment in cash to Creative District Pte Ltd at the point of gown collection (please see details in gown hire form).

1) S$50 for rental of gown (non-refundable); and
2) A deposit of S$150 (for Diploma) or S$200 (for Bachelor/Master) which will be fully refunded upon the return of gown in good condition.

Please note that any gown not returned by the stipulated deadline will result in the deposit being forfeited.


IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOR GRADUANDS ON CONVOCATION DAY

To ensure that the ceremony proceeds efficiently and smoothly, please take note of the procedures you will be required to follow during the ceremony.

Reporting Time & Registration

  • Please note that you are required to arrive at 12.30pm sharp for registration and robing of gown. All graduands are to be seated by 1.45pm for a briefing before the commencement of the ceremony. We regret that latecomers will NOT be admitted to the ceremony.

  • You are required to put on your academic gown and hood to prepare for the ceremony. You will be advised where to don your gown on the actual day. Graduands are strongly advised to put on your gowns promptly. There will be staff to assist you with the robbing of gowns, if required.

Dress Code

  • All graduands are requested to be properly attired befitting the occasion.
  • For male graduands, dark long pants and light-coloured shirt with tie.

  • For female graduands, light-coloured blouse with dark-coloured skirt or pants.

  • Please note that the following are not allowed for the ceremony: Jeans, T-Shirts, sneakers, baseball caps, shorts, slippers & singlets. Wearing high-heel shoes for the ceremony is also strongly discouraged.

During the Ceremony

  • All graduands will be given name cards based on their Award, upon registration.
  • You will be presented on stage based on this name card. It is important that you present your name card when you are presented on stage.

  • Your seat number is also indicated on this name card. It is important for you to be seated according to your seat number, as you will be presented on stage according to this order.

  • Ushers will show you to your seat. All graduands are not allowed to leave the hall once they are seated at 1.45pm, until the end of the ceremony.

Conclusion of Ceremony

  • All graduates are required to join the Academic Procession to exit the Ceremony Hall at the end of the ceremony. You will be led by the Marshall, please follow your respective Marshall in an orderly manner.

  • There will be a tea reception after the convocation ceremony.


INVITATION CARDS

Each graduand is entitled to 2 complimentary invitation cards, which will be available for collection together with your academic gowns. You may request for a maximum of 2 additional invitation cards at $30 per guest, subject to seat availability. Payment must be made at the point of card collection. You will receive an email confirmation on the availability of additional invitation cards after 1 September 2010.

Each invitation card admits one guest. Unfortunately children under the age of five years old will not be admitted to the Convocation hall. Please note that only those with valid invitation cards can be admitted. It is not possible to replace lost cards. In addition, latecomers will not be admitted.


PHOTOGRAPHY

The College has engaged Creative District Pte Ltd to take photographs of all graduands attending the Convocation. You will receive one (1) complimentary 4R size stage photograph to be collected at Creative District studio. You may also purchase photographs of the graduation day events from Creative District by placing orders with them directly.

Should you need clarification with regards to the collection of photographs, please contact Creative District directly.

Professional photographers have been engaged to ensure that an appropriate record is made of the Convocation. To ensure that this important event is conducted with due ceremony, please refrain from taking photograph when the ceremony is in progress.


INFORMATION FOR GUESTS

Guests who are attending the ceremony, please note the following:

  • Guests will be allowed to enter the ceremony hall at 2.15pm.
  • All guests are to be seated by 2.30pm. Please do not leave the hall after 2.40pm.
  • Children below the age of five will not be allowed into the hall. Children above the age of five without an invitation card will not be allowed into the hall.
  • Latecomers will not be admitted. Guests are to remain seated during the ceremony.
  • Please bring along your invitation cards for admission. Lost invitation cards are not replaceable.
  • Dress code for guests shall be formal.
  • Mobile phones are to be switched to silent mode when the ceremony is in progress.
  • Professional photographers have been engaged for this Convocation. Guests are advised to refrain from taking your photographs when the ceremony is in progress. This is an important and solemn ceremony. We would need your full cooperation so that there is no disruption throughout the progression of the ceremony.
  • No video-recording is allowed during the ceremony.


SETTLEMENT OF OUTSTANDING ACCOUNTS

Please settle any outstanding payments/fees (eg. Course fees/Library fines etc) that you may have with the College by 13 August 2010. Graduands who have outstanding fees WILL NOT be able to attend the convocation ceremony, or will have their certificates withheld until their outstanding balance has been cleared.

COLLECTION OF CERTIFICATE

If you are unable to attend the convocation, you may collect your certificate at the Division of Academic Administration one week after convocation.

You are strongly advised to collect your certificate personally. However, if this is not possible please complete the attached Authorisation Form [download and print / pdf: 72KB] to nominate a representative to collect on your behalf. He/she must bring your Student ID card and his/her NRIC/passport.
