LASALLE Master of Arts - Aug 2008 Intake
LASALLE's MA programmes are Singapore’s first postgraduate degrees in practice-based art and design, developed and delivered by LASALLE and validated by The Open University, UK. Our Master's alumni hail from diverse backgrounds and established practices in art making, research, education, management or therapies. These include designers Ginette Chittick (FrüFrü & Tigerlily), Nadya Perwitasari (Saatchi & Saatchi); artists Ana Prvacki (Singapore Biennale), Francis Ng (Venice Biennale), Gilles Massot, Jeremy Sharma (Della Butcher Award), Khairuddin Hori (Wunderspaze), Lawrence Tio (Asian Civilisations Museum), Lee Wen (Cultural Medallion), Rizman Putra (JCCI Arts Award for KYTV); arts manager Yuni Hadi (21st Singapore International Film Festival); and art therapist Laurence Vandenborre (Raffles Hospital).

Elizabeth Coss

Registered Art Therapist (ATR-BC)
Licensed Creative Arts Therapist (LCAT) in New York State, United States of America
Master of Arts in Art Therapy, New York University, United States of America
Bachelor of Arts in Political Studies, University of Southern California, United States of America

Professional Achievements

  • Previously a faculty member at New York University's Department of Art Therapy for five years where she trained many future art therapists.
  • Also previously the supervisor of Creative Arts Therapies for the Department of Psychiatry for a major New York City hospital where she supervised creative arts therapists and trained attending doctors, residents and medical students in the use of art therapy.
  • Presented at Grand Rounds and developed one of the first art therapy programmes in a psychiatry emergency room in New York City.
  • Worked extensively with children and families in hospitals, hospice, foster care settings, schools and in private practice.
  • Co-authored a chapter on art therapy in a book on alternative therapies with Dr. Steven Schachter who is in the Associate Director of Clinical Research for Complementary and Integrative Medical Therapies at Harvard Medical School.

Ian Woo

Programme Leader Postgraduate Studies - Masters of Art in Fine Arts
Recent publication includes Contemporary Art in Singapore- Gunalan Nadarajan, Russell Storer and Eugene Tan- published by The Institute of Contemporary Art/LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts.

Professional Achievements

  • Has exhibited extensively in the area of paintings and site installation art work in both local and international quarters. Examples include - ARCO - Feria Internacional de Arte Contemporaneo - Madrid, Spain and the recent solo exhibition "The Thing It Saw at the Plastique Kinetic Worms", in Singapore.
  • Developed public artwork for the Art in Transit project by Land Transport Authority at the Harbourfront North East Line Train Station.
  • His work in the area of contemporary painting has been discussed extensively via internet, publications, seminars and collections.
  • Recent publication includes Contemporary Art in Singapore - Gunalan Nadarajan, Russell Storer and Eugene Tan - published by The Institute of Contemporary Art/LASALLE-SIA College of the Arts.

Jeffrey Say

Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours), University of Queensland, Australia

Professional Achievements

  • Curated the exhibition Trading on the Maritime Silk Route at the National Museum of Singapore in 1993.
  • Played a key role in the development of the Art History programme at LASALLE.
  • Invited to do a research-based residency at the studio-home of Sculptor Karl Duldig in Melbourne, Australia. Duldig was a sculptor who had worked in Singapore from 1939 to 1940.
  • Gave a public lecture on Leonardo da Vinci in conjunction with the premiere of the movie, The Da Vinci Code.
  • Collaborated with established local artist Salleh Japar to participate in Nokia Singapore Art, a key visual arts exhibition in Singapore.

Professional Achievements

  • General Manager of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Really Useful Company (S) Pte Ltd and helped set up the local and regional operations for The Phantom of the Opera (1995) and The Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber (1996).
  • Founder Empire M+C Consultants in 1997, a dedicated arts and entertainment marketing and public relations consultancy and was involved in projects as diverse as Tresors (1997), Joseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat (1998), WOMAD, Star Trek World Tour (1999) and David Copperfield: Portal (2001).
  • Previously Director of Marketing and Corporate Communications at The Arts House at The Old Parliament and responsible for programming and branding the space.
  • Served on the Economic Review Committee Sub-Committee on the Tourism taskforce in 2002.
  • Award-winning playwright and a published writer.
