The theme of this self-initiated undertaking revolves around, as referential, generic explications of the universal idea of disaster — as unwanted individuated or collective bafflements, the fatalisms and trajectories of which are familiars ingrained unto the human consciousness.
In the art school context, events (societal or otherwise) deemed solipsistic or unjustified are more often than not, galvanizers of a curious aesthetic rigor that evades particular categorisation.
It is out of this found aesthetic rigor, as a reaction against the baffling, the incomprehensible and thus, tragic that binds four young artists, Maxine Chionh, Jim Worachart, Eun Ju Jang and Patricia Ho — to at least attempt to aesthetically elucidate the idea of the instantaneous reaction in the inclination of post-modern reflexivity.
The reactions which the artists wish to record whether as a process-based mechanical motional (refer the semi-gesture-al paintings of Eun Ju Jang) or the long accumulation of reactions synthesized into a piece of art or simply, the intimating of various subject matters as disasters are no points of contention — the artists invite Shubigi Rao as a kind of curatorial intervention to textually or verbally explicate this experimental (or not) undertaking.

To look disaster in the face, recognising alterity, to wallow like happy pigs in the side-slippage of things, to be mulish recalcitrant artists, an emasculated curator, or an alienated audience; embracing such rare disregard is a smug pleasure.
- Shubigi Rao, Curator-in-name
